Dear friends of Wellspring Journey Project. As many of
you know we now have our 501(c)(3) status and are poised to take the next step
in building the organization.
We want to take a minute and list a few of our 2013 goals
and explain our financial needs to accomplish them. First some goals in
progress:
- Establishing an office, in Minneapolis, that will consist of a massage room, meeting room, administrative area, intake and casual area, a bedroom for potential care-giving members of people getting treatment nearby and a kitchen.
- Continue to seek non-profit direction from professionals and hire temporary staff for accounting purposes to enable us to keep our records orderly and up to date and ensure all necessary forms are properly filled and sent in a timely manner.
- In addition to increasing the amount of Care-giver workshops we are in the process of developing a closer partnership with the American Cancer Society’s “Hope Lodge” and the University-Fairview hospital bone-marrow unit to provide massage for those in need and more caregiver workshops.
- Kelly and Pat are seeking to find a research partner to work with to determine and publish the benefits of oncology massage.
To accomplish these goals we are beginning to apply for
grants for operating expenses as well as for research. We will also present
fund-raisers and open-houses, in St. Louis and Minneapolis, throughout the year.
Through this period we will occasionally ask for direct help
which include items for fund raisers, furniture and items for the office and of
course good old cash. We have receipts available for tax deductions. Our
web-site www.wellspringjourneyproject.org is up and under construction and will be adding PayPal to it in the
near future.
We would like to apologize in advance if you receive
multiple copies of our messages and requests as we will be using every contact
list that we have. We are working on developing a database to avoid any
inconvenience.
And for the moment you have been waiting for; Our first
outreach request. As we prepare for our first 2013 fundraiser, May 7, 8 & 9
at CenturyLink in downtown Minneapolis, we are in need of items to use for
raffles, a silent auction and bake sale. Below is a basic breakdown of our
needs. We appreciate all support.
- New or “nearly” new items for raffles and a silent auction.
- Christmas gifts lying around your house that you won’t use.
- Outgrown iPods or other, smaller, electronic equipment that are in good condition.
- Extra items purchased in a 2 for 1 store promotion
- Gift Cards – restaurants, gifts stores, bakeries, On-Line, DIY shops, etc.
- Home-made baked goods for May 7, 8 and 9
- Our wonderful Minnesota Board of Directors has been our primary resource for baked goods and help at CenturyLink. We have found specialty items are a hot item such as pies and Swedish Almond Cake but cookies and bars have done extremely well. This year we are going to add some basic breakfast items like Baked French Toast.
- If anyone has a little time to help out at CenturyLink during those days please call Pat or Kelly.
If you can help with any of the items or have any
questions please feel free to contact us at wjp.agency@gmail.com or call Pat Kerber
